“Every Minute Motherland” Explores War’s Impact at Festival D’Liège
Liège – February 14 and 15, Choreographer Maciej Kuźmiński’s “Every Minute Motherland,” a dance piece for seven performers, will be presented at the Festival D’Liège in Belgium. The work, created by a Polish-Ukrainian ensemble including refugee dancers, explores the themes of trauma, exile, and alienation through movement.
Kuźmiński, a Polish choreographer, developed the piece through extensive laboratory work and drew inspiration from the performers’ personal narratives. The production, described as “documentary dance,” uses choreography as a means of communication to address the effects of war.
In collaboration with dramaturge Paul Bargetto, “Every Minute Motherland” offers an “existential experience” that aims to evoke both emotional resonance and contemplation. The piece is presented as an act of resistance and solidarity.
The performance has received critical acclaim, with Westfälische Nachrichten describing it as “a performance of fascinating beauty” and taniecpolska.pl calling it “a total experience.”
